Upney Finally Has a Proper Smash Burger Restaurant
For years, a good halal smash burger round here meant a trip into town or settling for something close enough.
We opened on Edgefield Ave to fix that. Fresh beef smashed to order, chicken breaded by hand, loaded fries big enough to share and sauces made in our own kitchen. All of it halal, all of it cooked when you order.
Barking, Dagenham, Ilford and East Ham had been waiting for it. Here it is.

What a Real Smash Burger Actually Is
The method is simple. The execution is everything.
A fresh ball of beef, never frozen and never pressed in advance, goes onto a flat-top at full heat and is pushed down hard. Where the beef meets the metal it caramelises and builds a thin, lacy, deeply browned crust. A thick grilled burger cannot do that.
That crust is the point, and it is what we make on Edgefield Ave every day. Not a version of it. The real thing.

100% Halal. The Whole Menu. No Asterisks.
Not mostly halal. Not halal on request. Every item at Birdy & Burger is certified halal, from the beef and the chicken to the sauces, sourced from trusted UK suppliers and handled properly from the moment it arrives.
For Muslim families across Barking, Dagenham, Ilford and East Ham that is not a bonus. It is the baseline, and we treat it that way.
